2D: Despite the continual advanaces in CAD software, the two dimensional single or double line drawing remains a very cost effective, simple method for conveying engineering information. Drawings may be schematics, single or multi service plans or sections which can be easily understood by most disciplines, site operatives and users. 60% of our workload is still 2D.
Co-ordination: Co-ordination is effectively a 2 dimensional solution to a 3 dimensional problem. Wherever 2 or more (and often many more) services need to run or cross at the same point, co-ordination is required. It is essential to ensure valves can be accessed, drainage runs falls properly, wiring can be laid in trays, air vents and insulation can be fitted, luminaires can be lifted in ceiling voids and invert levels are properly dimensioned. We have developed the requisite skills through years of experience working for consultants and contractors.
3D: We have been producing 3 dimensional drawings since 2005 and have become proficent in the use of 3D software such as CADDUCT and AutoCad Building Systems. This software has automatic 'clash detection' and the facility to schedule plant, equipment and distribution services such as pipe and duct lengths and number of bends, valves etc. More importantly, 3D allows all menbers of the design and installation team to see a 'virtual' installation before it is fabricated at any angle and any scale and it allows changes at very little cost. Co-ordination is automatic. We have produced 3D layouts for hospitals, cleanrooms and intricate plantrooms. Printing: To prove how well outsourcing works, we outsource all our printing and plotting to Hobs reprographics who will pick up and deliver prints to any chosen office anywhere in the UK. Our partnering arrangement with Hobs allows us to use their bespoke Reprodesk software.
